On Tuesday, 10 March, powerful tornadoes and severe storms swept through Illinois and neighboring states, leaving a path of devastation across the region. The storms resulted in multiple deaths, including one in Kankakee County. Now, the community is coping with widespread property damage, flash flooding and prolonged power outages.

The storm destroyed many homes and private properties. In some cases, families lost everything they owned. Several CSL colleagues who work at our manufacturing facility in Kankakee were directly affected.

Supporting Immediate and Long-Term Recovery

CSL’s donation supports coordinated local recovery efforts through trusted community partners, including the Emergency Response Fund of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties, which is a joint initiative of the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley and the United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties.

Activated following the tornadoes, the Emergency Response Fund was formed to ensure that people most in need receive help quickly. Donations to the fund are distributed to nonprofit organizations providing:

  • Immediate help with emergency housing, food and essential supplies
  • Support for vulnerable populations, including seniors, low-income families and individuals with disabilities
  • Long-term recovery services to help families rebuild and regain stability in the weeks and months ahead
