International Vasculitis Day has its first-ever logo – selected following a year-long process that invited patients to vote on the visual identity.
CSL Vifor worked closely with the patient organization, Vasculitis International, on the project. Following some weeks of voting, patients chose a globe design being held in two hands.
Peter Verhoeven, Chairman of Vasculitis International, said the new IVD logo is more than just an image.
"It's a statement. A mark of unity, recognition, and hope,” he said. “It will be used to strengthen awareness campaigns across the globe, helping to ensure that International Vasculitis Day, and vasculitis in general, gains the visibility it deserves. People living with these conditions need to be better understood and supported – anything we can do to support broader awareness is key.”
Vasculitis is the collective name for a group of rare, serious, chronic autoimmune diseases in which the wall of the blood vessels becomes inflamed often causing debilitating and life-limiting symptoms.
