For Baylee, growing up with a primary immune deficiency meant figuring out how to keep up with the regular infusions she needs to protect her against serious infections. Her mother, Annette, was by her side and later learned that she, too, has a primary immune deficiency, which means part of a person’s immune system is missing or not functioning as it should.
Having so much contact with health care professionals made Baylee decide to pursue a career in nursing. The University of Oregon graduate is now enrolled in nursing school in California. Baylee and Annette recently shared their story with the Santa Barbara Independent.
