If you’ve ever wondered who’s responsible for assembling the flu vaccine that your healthcare provider administers each season, there’s a good chance it’s due to a large team of experts under the leadership and guidance of Maria Lacourt-Cuevas, the Director of Fill-Finish for CSL Seqirus in Holly Springs, North Carolina.
Fill-Finish is the critically important process by which syringes are filled with vaccines, then labeled, inspected and packaged for distribution. It may sound straightforward, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Lacourt-Cuevas says it takes a unique skill set, but even more importantly, it takes a group of team players with a true commitment to public health protection.
“I have a very dedicated team,” she said. “Their teamwork approach, their collaboration, it truly exceeds expectations and that is really what motivates you to come to work every morning. You know that you're working with the team that truly wants to make every day the best.”
From Puerto Rico, Lacourt-Cuevas credits her personal leadership style to her culture, fostering a community among her team at CSL Seqirus’ Holly Springs, North Carolina manufacturing site - which is responsible for a good portion of the United States’ supply of seasonal vaccines, plus those needed in the event of a flu pandemic.
That same sense of community she fosters is what brought her to CSL in the first place.
“When I started working at CSL Seqirus, I had only met one person, and they went out of their way to introduce me to others. Everyone was so friendly and clearly dedicated to the company’s mission of protecting public health. That type of energy inspires me every day,” she said.
